Bye Bye Bangkok (finally)

Lotte and I spent all of yesterday in bed - diarrhea etc - possibly from something we ate at the "Cabbages and Condoms" restaurant the previous night. The restaurant was set up as a way to promote and fund birth control programs in Thailand. While we were dining at the restaurant, one of the people at our table got an SMS from a reliable source that a bomb threat had been issued for all restaurants, clubs etc where foreigners frequent. We payed our bill and quickly walked out of the building and caught a taxi to the hotel.

Earlier that day Lotte and I gave blood - apparently they were running low due to the tsunami and New Year celebrations. In order to give blood, you have take off your shoes and lie down on a bed (while everyone else waiting to give blood just sits around you). Not supprisingly, I couldn't fit in the bed - much to the amusement of the locals. Also, my size 13 shoe caused one nurse to laugh quite hard.

In other news, Lotte and I decided to make use of the inexpensive tailors available in Bangkok and had a dress and suit made respectively. I have to say, it's the nicest suit I've ever owned (ok it's the first suit I've ever owned, but still).

Lotte and I were planning to go to Sumatra yesterday but the Tsunami changed our plans. Instead, we are travelling to Ayuthaya - the old capital of Thailand.
