About this Website

I had a few queries about this website so I'll give yo a brief low down on it:

  • It was created using an open source software package called durpal
  • The image galleries were created using a free tool called picassa, which I would highly recommend for managing your pictures
  • Due to popular demand (ok only one person asked for it), I've enabled comments to be made on my posts. However to make a comment, you will need to log into the website and for that you will need an account
  • To get an account, email me with a username and password that you want to use and i will set it up for you
  • If you do not know my email address, then ask someone that you think would know. I'm not putting my email address on this website as I will get too much spam (there are programs out there that search through websites on the internet for email addresses to spam).

Melaka

Submitted by derms on Sat, 04/12/2004 - 12:52pm.

We arrived in Melaka yesterday, which is a 2.5 hours bus ride south from Kuala Lumpur. Following on from what I said before about the traffic in KL, the bus terminal leaves a lot to be desired. The tickets we bought said that we had to leave from "Platform 11". We went down to where the buses were located but wouldn't see any platform numbers. Apparently, you have to count 11 buses from main entrance to find "Platform 11". It's not as easy as it sounds, as there were some buses that you "didn't count" - i think becuase they were parked horizontally. None of the people we asked could agree on what was actually "Platform 11". Anyway, we eventually found the right bus and arrived in Melaka.

Found Lotte and "Found Attractive"

Submitted by derms on Sat, 04/12/2004 - 5:17am.

Well i eventually met up with Lotte and we ended up staying at a hotel located in China Town in Kualar Lumpur. I have to say that it has been an interesting experience. Those responsible for planning KL seemed to have overlooked the fact that people may actually want to walk somewhere. The roads in a lot of places are extremely narrow and there is no pavement, so you have to navigate through a never ceasing barage of traffic. Also for some reason no one, particilarly those on motor bikes, seems to obey any traffic laws what so ever (one of our taxi drivers took it upon him self to drive in the middle of two lanes for no apparent reason)

Where's Lotte?

Submitted by derms on Tue, 30/11/2004 - 1:25am.

Well I'm in Kuala Lumpur and I don't know where Lotte is. For those of you that don't know, we took seperate flights to get to KL (I get staff travel discounts but I had to go via Singapore). She was supposed to be at the hotel in the KL Airport, but I've just been there and they said she wasn't staying there. My mobile doesn't work here (supprise supprise) and my only means of contacting here is via email. Should be interesting.

Why am I a freak?

Submitted by derms on Mon, 29/11/2004 - 4:16pm.

I've only been in singapore 2 hours and already 5 people have looked at me and just laughed. I can't work out why...every time it happens I keep checking my fly (the usual culprit - at least for me ;) and its fully zipped. I mean, do I really look that stupid? (probably) Even as I'm typing this a group of people are looking at me - making some comment - and then loosing it. Others are just giving me strange looks. I think I'll take a photo of myself and try to work it out later...
